The city of Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and has about half a million inhabitants. The former tram network was abandoned in 1956. Almost 60 years later, in May 2014, a tram was opened again in Edinburgh. It has a length of approx. 14 kilometres (9 miles) in the first stage of construction and connects the inner city with the western districts and the airport.
It is operated by the municipal company → Edinburgh Trams Ltd.
